Yo Brighton! You’re in for a treat on Saturday 11 March, as the Memory Box tour bus is bringing Derrick Carter to town. Excited? We are.
Derrick Carter, to quote his RA biog, plays parties, makes music, dances, sings, and really, really likes shoes. He’s also a bit of a legend. Which is pretty handy as Memory Box is all about celebrating the roots and influences of electronic dance music and inviting a few legends along to the party to play. Derrick’s sets are rooted in house, but he freely travels outside club tastes, seamlessly incorporating old-school disco, soul, jazz and whatever catches his fancy.
The bar will be transformed into the Memory Box Rave Bar with Memory Box creator, Robin Ball and friends at the helm.
Patterns in Brighton first hosted Memory Box, the London club night making noise with its regular sonic memoirs of electronic music, in July last summer with a sell-out party featuring Nightmares On Wax, Luke Vibert and Memory Box creator Robin Ball, followed by another sell-out in September with Farley Jackmaster Funk, Phil Hartnoll from Orbital and Luke Vibert.
For four years Memory Box has been celebrating the influences of today’s electronic music scene and encapsulating some of the most memorable moments in time. Previous guests have included: Leftfield (DJ set), Joey Beltram, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Nightmares On Wax, Trevino, DJ Pierre, Robert Owens, Phil Hartnoll (Orbital), A Guy Called Gerald [Live], Egyptian Lover, Greg Wilson, Luke Vibert, Darren Emerson, Justin Robertson and many more.
