Take a dance through time with Memory Box on Saturday 3rd September as we go from House to Rave with an insane line up of three legends of electronic music from different eras and genres. Memory Box returns to Brighton for its second edition at Patterns presenting three generations of headliners that are crucial to the history of House & Rave music: Phil Hartnoll from the legendary Orbital, the one and only Chicago hero Farley Jackmaster Funk and acid & rave legend Luke Vibert.

This night’s flashback begins in 1981 when Farley Jackmaster Funk started on Chicago’s legendary WBMX-FM radio as part of Hot Mix 5 and helped to break house music – initially across Chicago and then globally. Then we jump into 1989 when Orbital released the legendary rave track “Chime” which exploded into the mainstream leading to a Glastonbury headline slot in 1994 propelling the duo to global success of stratospheric proportions with a slew of singles and LP releases that would see them considered classics today. Around this time Luke Vibert took up the mantle and started a career covering a multiple of aliases and genres taking on rave, acid, techno, electro and much more.

All three of these legends are touring the world today as headline DJ’s and on this night for a special show they will come together under one roof to celebrate the history of House and rave music.

Patterns in Brighton first hosted Memory Box, the London club night making noise with its regular sonic memoirs of electronic music, in July this summer with a sell-out party featuring Nightmares On Wax, Luke Vibert and Memory Box creator Robin Ball. Luke Vibert tore up the party so much he’s been invited back for the next one. Alongside Luke, Phil Hartnoll will play a special influences set, showing us some of the music that influenced the creation of Orbital tracks. And Farley Jackmaster Funk is flying in from the US to deliver his class Chicago House vibe. Farley tore the house apart earlier this year at the Memory Box 3rd Birthday at the Bussey Building in London.

To carry on this theme in the bar Robin Ball will play a classic “room 2” set covering Balearic, House, Disco, Acid, rave.

Memory Box is a project that celebrates the influences of today’s electronic music scene and encapsulates some of the most memorable moments in its time. A Memory Box party covers the history of electronic club music, hearing its origins from the legends and luminaries whilst exploring the influences the past has on today's music and how we shape the future.
